The Changing Rhythm of Life

Life Around My Table

There has been a shift. It is one so profound that I’m certain I will not ever be able to fit myself into the same place, the same way ever again. I have deconstructed my days and created something entirely new and wonderful. The rhythm is as old as the earth and the vibration has taken me deeper. How can it be new and old in concert? I don’t know. It just is.

I do wonder how inner strength taps into its energy source. I’m sure it’s different for everyone, but I think it would be a great conversation to have with people. Does it come from adversity? Perhaps, it comes from living freely and being able to make clear choices. Are emotions attached or does the analytical mind take over?

I think it is all of the above in

BALANCE.

I will say that the most poignant moments for me over the past few months were recognizing how fiercely I protected my freedom. While I was very respectful of the mandates that were put in place from staying at home to only venturing out to do essential errands, it was in the very early morning hours that I found my release from these constraints and my feet connected with the earth. The eerie quiet of the still mornings had a haunting quality to them. The only pulse was that of nature’s breath.

And I felt like I couldn’t afford to miss a moment of this conversation with GOD.

Life Around My Table

What is the first thing you wake up thinking about?
It matters a lot.

I believe it sets the tone and the momentum for the rest of the day.
I wake up thinking about the most special people in my life, my love for them, and my prayer that they are content and happy.

And then I say to myself, “It’s going to be a GOOD day”!

Life Around My Table

As soon as September arrives each year,
I find myself letting out a long held breath.
There is a very good reason for this!
I love the transition into the autumn season and it can never get here soon enough for me.

I am a September baby, after all!

I have been seeing so many wonderful designs for Caftans all over the place these days.
With the last of the summer temperatures getting really hot here in La Jolla, I decided it was time to debut my JennaferGrace Caftan.
@jennafergracious

Jennafer made this for me back in the late Spring and I honestly can say that it took me awhile to embrace the overall look!
It was when I realized that IT was the look and all I had to do was step into it that it dawned on me how truly and completely amazing dressing in this IS!!

All I can say is I’m a BELIEVER now!

There has been a flurry of activity going on in my kitchen these days. I have hosted a family birthday party for my cousin, been preserving all of the figs from my tree, and I made my famous 6 layer chocolate cake for my son’s birthday a couple of days ago. There was even a morning of baking and laughter as I showed my friends how to make Sicilian Cuccidati, Italian Fig Cookies.

As the summer evenings give way to autumn, there is still enough time for a few more al fresco dinners. Here in Southern California, we are very fortunate and grateful to experience beautiful nights for at least the next couple of months.
I can remember when I first moved here from Upstate New York, I actually spent my first Christmas Day swimming in a pool!
I am sharing my favorite little Salmoriglio Sauce recipe here today. It is versatile and so simple and fresh.
It can accompany anything from chicken and fish to toasted bread drizzled with a fruity olive oil.

Strange is the word I use to describe this year, so far. With its ever changing and unpredictable rhythm, it is certainly keeping me laughing and alert! I hope that with sure and simple steps, we will all once again be able to move about freely and with confidence.
I have a whole list of things I want to

SEE and ACCOMPLISH

on my newest journey around the Sun.

As always, I wish you Peace and Serenity.

Thank you so much Juliet. I am trying to get back in the swing of posting and writing regularly again. I lost a little momentum over the past few weeks. I think, between the virus and the heat I was just not feeling motivated.
Your new blog is so inspiring and creative! I’m so thrilled for you!
      XO Diana

It’s not a welcome feeling when our freedom is threatened. We are once again reminded that freedom is not a birthright, rather it is a constant awareness to be upheld in the whitest of light.
      Love you right back, Toni🥰
