“You Deserve the Best!”
Sunday Saunters
It’s Sunday morning and I thought it would be fun to share some of my thoughts on what it means to be Pro Aging Conscious, along with a few ideas about what to wear in extreme heat, and of course, a simple recipe for a beautiful Summer Supper.
My cousin recently said to me, “You deserve the Best”! It has deeply resonated with me ever since. Honestly, I don’t always know how to grasp this, but I can say with clarity that I know exactly what does not serve me well any longer. Maybe this comes with age for some, and for others, life’s experiences. Do you think that some people are just born with an innate knowing?

Over the past decade, there have been a lot of discussions focused on Pro Aging. With society beginning to acknowledge and open the doors for comfortable conversations, we are discovering that we do have many positive choices as to how we grow older. We are reinforcing the importance that we are free to make the choices that resonate for us, as individuals. I believe now, more than ever, is the time to embrace the qualities of aging that bring us contentment, happiness and joy within ourselves. I believe it is also the time to continue to break down the walls of past social expectations and create a totally transparent environment for women to embrace and explore their own aging process freely. Honestly, I can’t think of any good reasons why we shouldn’t feel great about ourselves as we age.

I’ll start the lively conversation by asking what does Pro Aging mean to you? Is it nutrition, fashion, exercise, make up, or is it something intangible that starts with our mindset? Is it what we do, who we are or who we aspire to be? Is it defined by what we enjoy or what we feel obligated to do? What does it mean to be Pro Aging Conscious?
All of these questions are just pieces of the puzzle. There are no right or wrong answers to any of these questions. We, as individuals, are able to define this consciousness specifically to our own needs and desires. I am going to be 58 years old in September and I LOOK MY AGE!
I LOVE THIS! How else am I supposed to look?

I have always loved wearing short(er) dresses. Now that I am living in Las Vegas and the temperatures can reach over 100F by 10 am, I needed to get back into my closet and refresh some of my dresses that I hadn’t worn in years! The one above, I bought quite awhile ago from the
At the time I bought it, I had planned to take it on a trip. Unfortunately, the sleeves were down past my wrists and the hemline hit at an awkward place just below my knees. I just wasn’t happy with it at the time, so it ended up getting lost in my closet. This past week I took the time to create the look I wanted from this piece and I’m very happy now with the way it turned out. And my new favorite trick for wearing this short dress is the lightweight cotton boy shorts underneath! As I said to my sweet friend Evie, “I feel like I’m 25!”

The simplest and freshest ingredients are the standard when I’m preparing food in my kitchen. This salad is easily layered with the summer’s best organic produce.
There is no set recipe for this salad. All you need is a beautiful platter and the following ingredients, using them to your liking!
- Spring mix salad
- Heirloom tomatoes, roughly cut
- Small cherry tomatoes, cut in half
- Red onion, slivered
- Fresh basil leaves, cut chiffonade
- 2-3 balls of fresh burrata cheese
- Extra virgin olive oil, first pressed, unfiltered if you can find it
- Apple cider vinegar
- Pomegranate balsamic vinegar or a drizzle of your favorite balsamic vinegar
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Layer the ingredients in order, adding a drizzle of your favorite olive oil and vinegars to taste. Top with sea salt and freshly ground pepper. Buon Appetito
Burrata is an Italian cow’s milk cheese made from mozzarella and fresh cream. The outer casing is actually solid cheese, while the inside houses stracciatella cream. The interior has a wonderfully soft texture.
If you have a Trader Joe’s nearby, all of these ingredients can be found there!

“Again whatever is the state of the body and mind, the ever-perfect One is in the heart of you, it is your truest truth and your only constant.” (Interpretation by me from the Bible)
Hoping this beautiful Sunday brings you peace, joy and always, Love.

I am in complete agreement with you. Our society has turned a blind eye to the importance of caring for and showing respect to the generations that came before us. How can it be that in so many cultures around the world people don’t see age as an inconvenience, but rather something to embrace for the wisdom and love that it affords. We are made up of these cultures. How did we forget so easily?
I do hope that your birthday party was everything you wished for. I was there in spirit!✨💞🩷💞✨
